AES’s Dayton Power and Light Company has introduced a unique discount program approved by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO). This program is for customers with a power demand of 500 kilowatts (kW) or more at a single location.

Significant discounts are available for new or expanded facilities in the AES Ohio (Dayton Power & Light) service area.

This discount program, or tariff provision, became effective on September 1, 2023. It applies to a single site with a power demand exceeding 500 kW. To qualify, a customer must enter into a service agreement with AES that includes this tariff. Construction on new or expanded facilities must have started after August 9, 2023, and be mostly completed within three years of starting.

Here are the discount levels based on the investment or increase in power demand:

  • More than $20 million investment or more than 500 kW: 50% discount
  • More than $30 million investment or more than 750 kW: 55% discount
  • More than $40 million investment or more than 1,000 kW: 60% discount
  • More than $50 million investment or more than 1,250 kW: 65% discount
  • More than $60 million investment or more than 1,500 kW: 70% discount

This discount is applicable for 24 months, starting from the billing cycle after the customer provides evidence of the capital investment or load growth. The evidence is due 60 days after the construction is completed.
