CLIENT SUCCESS STORIESTPI EFFICIENCY + COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION
THE CHALLENGE
Energy use is the single most significant operating expense in commercial office buildings, representing approximately one-third of typical operating budgets (energystar.gov).
The commercial real estate development organization saw an opportunity to capitalize on recent regulatory changes to reduce expenses and increase asset value on a 100% green energy platform.
HOW TPI SOLVED THE PROBLEM
When regulatory changes in the Commonwealth of Virginia briefly allowed select consumers to choose competitive supply at a lower cost, this commercial real estate development organization quickly called TPI Efficiency to help lower their current bills.
TPI reviewed their near-one million square feet of commercial properties, eight locations, and 11 meters to consolidate 3,341,444 kWh of usage and increase buying power. TPI then fought to qualify each location for enrollment in Virginia’s green energy allowance and found competitive pricing from Tier-1 energy suppliers with the capacity to reliably produce 100% green electricity via wind and solar farms.
By consolidating accounts and switching to 100% renewable energy supply, this commercial real estate development organization achieved a 7.2% annual savings of nearly $17,000 and a total contract savings of $83,245. Additionally, they are now on an exclusive list of Green Energy Certified businesses advocating for improving clean energy policy, markets, and technology.Â
Our mission at TPI is to create an environment where #energyforgood is more than just a tagline. We work with customers, large and small, to enhance their existing procurement strategies and take them to the next level.
