The TPI Efficiency Story
TPI Efficiency is an energy brokerage and utility consulting company founded in 2009 in Cleveland, Ohio. The company was established when the energy market was significantly different from today, with the first generation of leadership recognizing an opportunity to help businesses navigate the complexities of energy procurement and cost reduction.
Since its inception, TPI Efficiency has established itself as a leader in energy analysis and procurement services. The company provides expert energy procurement services and cost-reduction strategies to help clients optimize their energy spending, with a nationwide focus on natural gas, electricity, and LED lighting installations.
Over the years, TPI Efficiency has expanded its client base, serving over 3,800 commercial, industrial, educational, government, and nonprofit organizations nationwide. The company has developed a reputation for its vendor-neutral approach and customized solutions, prioritizing cost-effective strategies for its clients.
In October 2022, TPI Efficiency was acquired by ScaleCo Management LLC, marking a significant milestone in the company’s history. This acquisition was ScaleCo’s 22nd platform investment and third investment from their committed Fund IV.
Following the ScaleCo acquisition, TPI Efficiency continued its growth trajectory. In June 2023, the company made its first add-on acquisition, purchasing the electricity and natural gas business of Greenstar Solutions, LLC, based in Bethlehem, PA. This strategic move further expanded TPI Efficiency’s portfolio and enhanced its ability to offer comprehensive energy procurement solutions. Most recently, TPI Efficiency acquired The Utilities Group in Cincinnati, Ohio. By combining strengths, we’re expanding our expertise, geographic reach, and ability to serve a broader range of industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, commercial real estate, and institutional clients.
TPI Efficiency has maintained a strong presence in Ohio throughout its history, securing multi-year partnerships with prominent sports organizations such as the Cleveland Browns. Cincinnati Reds and Columbus Crew. The company’s success has been built on its commitment to helping clients manage their energy costs effectively, as well as its ability to adapt to the changing energy landscape.
